When the Mississippi legislature approved casino gaming in the early 1990s, the state's Gulf Coast region was nearly bankrupt. The main strip along Hwy. 90 was in fast decline with boarded up businesses and sad, dumpy hotels. Today, the region is thriving. A dozen casinos have made their home in the area and prosperity is evident all around including new hotels, golf courses, restaurants, homes and condominiums sprouting all along Hwy. 90 The casinos not only offer 24-hour gaming, but also first class headliner entertainment. |
