will be surprised by the number of cultural and entertainment
options Pensacola offers. A thriving performing and visual
arts community is based in many of Pensacola's historic
downtown buildings. Be sure to visit the Pensacola Museum of
Art and the nearby Quayside Arts Gallery which houses the work
of original local artists. The Pensacola Little Theatre and
Pensacola Opera offer local artists a place to hone
their skills and a wide array of touring shows play at
Pensacola's downtown gem, the Saenger Theatre. The Pensacola
Civic Center plays host to a variety of headline artists each
year and has served as the practice facility for big names
such as brother-sister superstars Michael and Janet Jackson.
Sports fans will enjoy the minor league hockey team Pensacola
Ice Pilots and the arena football Pensacola Barracudas. Live
music can be found in a variety of clubs downtown and at
several Pensacola Beach restaurants and clubs. One of the
biggest annual events in Pensacola is the May Springfest
celebration which brings in dozens of name acts for the
three-day event. |
