What was once a tiny fishing and farming village is now one of the fastest growing communities in Northwest Florida. Colonel Guy H. Wyman, a retired Army engineer and native of Florida founded the area in 1925 and named the community after his wife's favorite province in northern Spain. Today, many area subdivisions and streets have Spanish names. The beach and inland areas are seeing rapid growth. The "Best Kept Secret" may not be such a secret for much longer.
